The Citizen May 24 said the state's top judges have only been paid $147,600 plus a year since 1999. How come my taxes keep going up and I have to pay the same price for catsup on $17,000 a year since 1999?
When each and everyone of us who gets behind the wheel, how many of us follow/obey the traffic laws? If you haven't noticed, watch how a great many at a traffic light, four way stop and parking lots glide and go!
It is a shame that when tragedy occurs on the road, we forget to learn from those mistakes. Maybe the country's lawmakers should effect a law that would make us all take road tests every two years to see if we are capable drivers or risk factors.
Now is the time for the new city manager to make his first change in a department manager and demote Bill Lupien to a city truck driver. If he can't see that Owasco Street from the city line to the arterial is in terrible shape and absolutely should be completely rebuilt (thanks to the garbage trucks from NY City) then he should be put in a truck so he can see first hand what those of us who must use that street every day have to contend with and hope we don't do costly damage to our vehicles.
Citizens of Cayuga County and the surrounding area, please help our Vietnam Veterans during their “Poppy Campaign.” While they are out there in their nice uniforms, show your support, by donating for a poppy or a card with the 27 men's names on it that served our country and passed away in Vietnam.
If a driver going through the Seneca Tribe's proposed toll booths stops for a ticket and drives through at the other end without financing their extortionist tactics with a payment, what are they going to do about it? They don't want to abide by the taxation statutes of the State of New York so why should its citizens acquiesce to its absurd assertions?
Congratulations to Mr. Gerry Fitzgerald and to the Union Springs High School Jazz Band and Middle School Concert Band for their first-place finishes in the Seneca Falls Pageant of Bands. This was a fitting tribute to Mr. Fitzgerald as the school bands say good-bye to their dedicated and talented teacher.
If you can read this, thank a teacher. If you can read this in English, thank a veteran.
Parents, if you buy those skating sneakers for your children, please make sure that they do not roll around on them in stores or other public places where they may crash into objects or other people.
I don't believe a Democrat could sit through the movie “The Patriot” with Mel Gibson.
Today on television there is a lot of gabbing and endless commercials. Years ago we enjoyed such great shows as “The Firestone Hour,” “The Telephone Hour,” “Your Show of Shows,” “The Ed Sullivan Show” and others.
Would the Seneca tribe's police department be able to enforce drive-throughs at their toll booths?
It looks like the Republicans are completely out of touch with the American public regarding the war and economy. The Democrats are gutless wimps for not standing up to the president.
To the Democratic Party, action speaks louder than words. We all are entitled to an improvement in our government, especially in the war zone, so quit talking and do something.
Congratulations to Auburn High varsity baseball and first-year coach T.J. Gamba. Auburn was very competitive and faced some of the best pitchers in Central New York yet ended their season with a winning record.
I'll sign the petition prohibiting E-ZPass from including the proposed Seneca Indian toll booths in their system.
The so-called Christian world is guilty of gross immorality and the so-called Islamic world is guilty of gross cruelty. Both are dead wrong and are totally against God's will.
Can't find clear plastic garbage bags? I'm sure the City of Auburn would be more than happy to sell them for the low, low price of $10 apiece.
What about our police department? They used to walk the beat downtown, and yes, even did ride their motorcycles, when downtown was downtown with stores, restaurants, churches, etc.
