Ithaca Festival kicks off Thursday
The 30th Anniversary Ithaca Festival will take place from Thursday through Sunday, May 31 to June 3, with an artist reception held Wednesday, May 30. The theme this year is “Reflection.”
Performing will be Galumpha, The Burns Sisters, Jennie Stearns, J-San & the Analog Sons, Boy With A Fish, Johnny Dowd, Kevin Kinsella, Hubcap, Butane Variations, Yacouba Diarra, Hank Roberts & Richie Stearns, Trevor MacDonald, Radio London, Hog Tie Sessions, Tom Knight, Mark Rust, Circus Eccentrithaca, and many other artists.
This four-day event kicks off with a parade and ends with fireworks at the Ball Park stage at Stewart Park.

CCC to hold Child abuse ID seminar
A Child Abuse Identification and Reporting Seminar will be held from 3 to 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, at Cayuga Community College. The New York State Education Department has given approval to provide coursework in child abuse identification and reporting for professionals. To take the course, attendees must bring a license number, Social Security number and/or permit number to the seminar. Tuition is $30.

An Introduction to Anaerobic Digestion of Dairy Manure will be given by Brian Aldrich, agriculture resource extension educator, from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 31, at Cornell Cooperative Extension, 248 Grant Ave., Auburn. This talk is free and open to the public. Registration is not required.

Moravia district seeks achievers
The Moravia Central School District is looking for nominations for the Hall of Achievement. If you know of a prestigious alumnus who is a positive role model for students, graduated prior to 1997 and is distinguished in career, community service and or socially responsible endeavors, fill out the nomination form available at the Moravia Central School District's Office.
Submit your nomination to the superintendent of school by Saturday, June 30. The induction ceremony will be held during homecoming activities this fall.
Library detective club to meet
The Port Byron Library Detectives Club, a reading program for elementary age children, meets from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. the second Tuesday or each month, at the library, 12 Mentz Drive, Port Byron. The group reads books, collects clues and solves a mystery.
The next meeting is Tuesday, June 12. The guest speaker that evening will be The Citizen's feature writer David Wilcox, who will discuss how he must “hunt” for ideas and information as a newspaper reporter.
