Pennington sentenced to alcohol use makeover
Ty Pennington, host of ABC's “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” pleaded no contest Friday in a misdemeanor drunken driving case.

Pennington, 42, had been charged with two misdemeanor counts - driving with a blood-alcohol level above the 0.08 percent limit and driving under the influence of alcohol.

He pleaded no contest to the first count and the other count was dismissed, said Frank Mateljan, a spokesman for the city attorney's office. Mateljan said it was a normal disposition for a first offense.

A judge placed Pennington on three years' probation, restricted his driving privileges for 90 days and ordered him to participate in a 90-day alcohol program and attend a Mothers Against Drunk Drivers meeting, Mateljan said.

Singer ready to adopt a ‘whole troop' of children

Sheryl Crow says she thinks her infant son, Wyatt, will be the first in a “whole troop” of children in her life.

“I've always wanted to adopt. Even if I'd had my own kids, I would have adopted,” she said. “I love the idea of adopting. I always thought I had an immense amount of love to give.”

Wyatt Steven Crow was born April 29. “I flew to where he was, which was in another state, and I took him home a day later. He was 1 day old,” the Los Angeles-based singer-guitarist says.

Diaz thrilled to voice a princess among classics

Fiona, the even-tempered ogre princess in the animated blockbuster “Shrek the Third,” is a modern update of the classic fairy tale princess, says Cameron Diaz, who voiced the character.

Fiona understands that “if you want something to happen, you have to go out and do it yourself,” said Diaz, who was in Taiwan to promote the latest installment of the movie franchise.

When Shrek (voiced by Mike Myers) sets off on a mission, Fiona is left to defend the castle. She gets some unexpected help from Snow White, Cinderella, Rapunzel and Sleeping Beauty.

“These are the princesses we grew up on,” Diaz said. “We get to keep our princesses, and we get to modernize them.”

O'Neal gets off without charges for gunshot

Prosecutors declined Friday to charge Ryan O'Neal for firing what the actor called a warning shot during a brawl with his son this year.

Witnesses to the Feb. 3 shooting at O'Neal's home in Malibu - which injured no one - gave conflicting accounts to authorities, said Jane Robison, a spokeswoman for the district attorney's office. That left insufficient evidence to prove the case, she said.
