The village of Union Springs will search for a clerk/treasurer to replace Melinda Kostreva, who will resign Aug. 1.
After 10 years with the village, Kostreva plans to change jobs this summer. Though she has not officially tendered her resignation for the 30-hour-a-week position, Kostreva told the board about her plans to allow enough time for transition.
“It'll be a transition for a few months,” said Kostreva, who also serves as bookkeeper for the village of Aurora. She has not made a decision on that position yet.
The Union Springs village Board of Trustees had a special meeting on Wednesday to authorize a search for a replacement that will begin with classified advertisements this weekend. The deadline for applications is June 7.
“I'm going to miss it a lot,” said Kostreva, adding she has enjoyed working in the village's lakeside offices and with residents during her tenure. “I still want to be involved. I do live here after all.”
