Probably the most unusual burial request was made by Cato's founder Doctor John Jakway, who asked to be buried with his head sticking out of the ground, so that boys could crack nuts on his skull. His request was ignored and generations of Cato kids have had to rely on other means.

AUBURN - The man charged with beating actor and instructor John Turner pleaded not guilty Friday morning in city court. Natsu H. Carter of 28 Nelson St., Auburn, appeared before city Judge Michael McKeon with his attorney, Michael Bass, to face the felony charge of first-degree assault. McKeon sent Natsu Carter to Cayuga County jail in lieu of $75,000 cash or $150,000 bond.
