Megan Cahill and Christina Carmardo shared the best score of the match, a 40, as the Auburn girls golf team scored a 172 to defeat Cicero-North Syracuse (189) and Nottingham (211) at Riverside Golf Course in North Syracuse on Wednesday.

The score qualified the Maroons to compete in the Section III team tournament at Green Lakes State Park May 30. Also scoring for Auburn were Mindy Fowler, who carded a 43, and co-captain Mary Benedict with a 49.

Auburn (10-7) hosts Baldwinsville Friday in the last regular-season match for both teams.

Ray Richardson won the triple jump (45 feet, 4.25 inches) and finished fourth in the long jump (21-0.5).

Chris Mason took first in the 3000m steeplechase (9:46.30).

Also competing for the Maroons were Rob Culver in the steeplechase (10:47.88) and Matt Clark in the 100m (11.83).
