AUBURN - A Cayuga County Jail inmate admitted assaulting a fellow inmate convicted of cutting the throat of the assailant's nephew.
Richard Boswell, 32, with a last known address of 36 Pulaski St., Auburn, pleaded guilty in Cayuga County Court Tuesday to the felony of second-degree assault. Boswell admitted entering Cody Anderson's cell and striking him Nov. 1, 2006.

Anderson recently was sentenced to eight years in state prison for using a box cutter to cut the throat of Boswell's relative while the man slept in his Auburn, residence.

Last week, Boswell was sentenced to 15 days in county jail for the violation of second-degree harassment, which satisfied a misdemeanor charge of sexual misconduct against a woman last July.

His sentencing is June 26. As a second felony offender, he faces up to seven years in state prison.

Justice Thomas VanStrydonck, the Administrative Judge of the Seventh Judicial District, filled in for Cayuga County Surrogate Judge Mark Fandrich as Fandrich recovers from surgery.

Also in court:

€ Shean Barney, 41, of 13159 Arnold Road, Ira, was sentenced to 45 days in county jail for second-degree felony criminal possession of marijuana. Barney admitted to having 47 pounds worth of 6-foot marijuana plants on his property Aug. 25.

€ Stanley Ferris Jr., 21, of Apt. 3, 79 Cottage St., Auburn, was sentenced to five years probation for third-degree felony attempted criminal sale of a controlled substance. Ferris admitted trying to sell crack cocaine to an informant March 13, 2005.

€ Toby Grant, 24, Oswego, was arraigned on a sealed indictment of three felony counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, three felony counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, the felony counts of fourth-degree conspiracy and fourth-degree criminal possession of a narcotic drug and the misdemeanor count of second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia. He is accused of selling drugs in 2005. Grant's bail was set at $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond, and his case was adjourned until June 5.

€ Benjamin M. Ingerson, 26, of 4100 Depot Road, Auburn, pleaded guilty to third-degree felony criminal possession of a narcotic. He admitted possessing crack cocaine with the intent to sell it March 21.

While executing a search warrant, police found some of the crack in a trap of a toilet of 88 Clark Street after Ingerson flushed it and more baggies were found between the apartment's bathroom and living room, Chief Assistant District Attorney Jon Budelmann said. Ingerson's sentencing is scheduled for July 10.

€ The sentencing of Jan Ripley, 58, of 5426 Murphy Hill Road, Moravia, was postponed until June 26 because Ripley was arrested May 1 on a new charge of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance related to the allegation she sold meth.

Ripley previously pleaded guilty to the felony of unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine. Her case was scheduled to go to grand jury Wednesday.

" Like they are supposed to know there's more than 2 Cody Anderson's in Auburn. I've lived here 24 yrs and never heard that name a day in my life. On the other hand...tell your family member THANK YOU for serving and we appreciate all of what he does. I too have a family member, a brother, serving in the Army. But I doubt anyone who knows your family member is going to think he his serving time in CCJ when he is somewheres else. "
