AUBURN -- City councilors are anxious to seal two negotiations they thought they were done deals.
Corporation Counsel Andy Fusco drafted a contract between Owasco and Auburn to fund a watershed inspector. However, Cayuga County leaders have taken no action on this agreement.
"The bottom line is the city and the town have moved forward with this, but the county has not," Fusco told councilors Thursday night during the city council meeting. "Now I don't take anything negative from that."
He added that they didn't know if the county had any objections.
Mayor Timothy Lattimore suggested the city legal office draft a second contract that would cut the county out of the process. While the county does not provide funding for the position in the original contract, the inspector is to operate out of the county's Soil and Water Conservation District.
