Search on for area with pierogy pride

Mrs. T's Pierogies is holding its second annual search for the “Capitol of the Pierogy Pocket” and invites cities and towns within this area - the part of the country with the highest pierogy consumption, which spans throughout Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, New York, southern New England and parts of the Mid-Atlantic region - to vie for the title.

The entry period is now open for cities, towns and non-profit organizations.

Entries must demonstrate their “pierogy passion” by submitting at least one tangible example of its enthusiasm - a letter from the mayor, anecdotes about the town's pierogy appetites, a video displaying local pierogy pride, etc. All nominees will be scored by a panel of judges and the top 10 entries will be profiled online. Then residents and others may vote for the final winner.

Entries must be received no later than Sept. 14. The winner will be announced in the fall and awarded $10,000 for a local charitable endeavor of their choice. Entry forms may be found at www.pierogypocket.com.
