U19 soccer tryouts begin next weekend
Tryouts for the Fingerlakes Flash, the Cayuga County U19 Soccer team, will be from 9 to 11 a.m.
Saturday, May 26 and Sunday, May 27 at the soccer fields at Port Byron High School.
If you were born after August 1987 then you are eligible to try out. All participants must bring soccer gear and insurance information.

YMCA offering little big-man tourney
The Auburn YMCA will be offering an eight-week Little Big-Man Basketball League beginning Thursday, June 7. There will be two divisions of play: grades ninth through 12th and open 18 and over. Players must be 6 feet or shorter to play.
The cost is $175 per team, and the registration deadline is May 29.

Limited spots are available for the Auburn Junior Olympic Softball program for two divisions: ages 8-10 and 11-12.
The cost is $40 for all Auburn City District residents and a $45 fee will be charged to non-residents.

St. Alphonsus golf tourney is June 9
There will be a golf tournament to benefit the St. Alphonsus Food Pantry Saturday, June 9, at Dutch Hollow Country Club.
The four-man scramble event will have a shotgun start at noon, and the cost is $60 per person, which includes 18 holes, cart, food and drinks on the course, prime rib dinner, skins and prizes.

The Auburn Doubledays Web site is now hosting a poll to elect the newest inductee into the Doubledays Wall of Fame in the contributor category. Voting will run until May 31.
The nominees include former board members Vince Klein and Dr. Thomas Stapleton and former General Manager Bill Graney. They are joined by team historian Charlie Wride. The winner will be announced at the Doubledays FanFest June 2.

Boater safety course offered at Bass Pro
Certified boating instructor Ralph Gray will conduct a series of boating safety classes at Bass Pro Shops in the Fingerlakes Mall.
The course dates and hours will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 16, from 6 to 10 p.m. June 28-29, from 6 to 10 p.m. July 11-12 and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 28.
The cost of the class is $35 and will give participants the New York requirement for a personal watercraft.
Many boat insurance companies will offer discounts on boating insurance to boater who successfully complete a safe boating course.
Class size is limited and registrations are mandatory at Bass Pro Shops customer service counter or by calling the store at 258-2700.
