Two Cents

Those people in charge of maintaining the streets in this town are negligent of their duties. God forbid there was an emergency coming on Owasco Road heading north - there'd be an accident.
I see Mr. Brown got himself a new liver and he is doing well - thank God. Let's just hope all the voters remember, come next election, why he was given a bum rap in the first place.

Once again for the second time around, a group of people on James Street near Orchard Street, had to challenge our police officers who were making an arrest for a street fight. More officers had to be called to control these unruly people, who by their intervention think they are above the law.

The Auburn police are trying to do their job on James Street. Their job is tough enough without interference from residents.

Why don't they get local buses to go to Syracuse and areas to visit other towns and shop, too? Pick up each hour and get people to enjoy our area parks, picnics, field days and enjoy our families.

Isn't there a way to help the cats and dogs in all SPCAs, like each day have different volunteers to help six days a week to feed, water, clean cages, hold them and walk them, to help these animals at the SPCA?

Two Cents is awesome. It's the ultimate form of free speech!

" If I had to listen daily to the whining and complaining of the people of Auburn I would be taking some heavy duty drugs myself. The drug problem is all over the country in all neighborhoods. You do not have the only drug problems. Deal with the problem. Support the police, form a drug task force, form a commitee to make suggestions to the police to combat the problem. Act don't complain. "

" I think nepotism by school boards is a huge problem. I know one district in central NY where the board presidents husband got a PE job, another school board members son got a PE job, another board members daughter got an el ed job, another board members step daughter got a health job and his neice got a el ed job. Its not just happening in Union Springs is happening everywhere. This has to change! "

" It pays to be a Board of Education President at Union springs where you can have your whole family working for the school. "

" Once again, for the millionth time around....if you sit behind a computer and don't do anything, nothing will be done. How about instead of complaining about a situation, try to help the situation at hand get better. Ever try to put yourself in someone else's situation and understand that their life may not be peaches and cream like yours may be? Maybe they have anger management problems, were under the influence or weren't brought up to respect police officers like most people have. I am not justifying what happened...but just think about that. Not all residents over here disobey the law. Most of the time, like the one commenter said, the ones that get in trouble on the street don't even live near here. And on another note...do you really think that all the drug activity only takes place on Orchard and James Street? Wake up...lower class people aren't the only ones who do it. And this side of town isn't the only place in the city that drug users live. They are everywhere in Auburn!!! "

" If the DPW can't fill potholes then do you expect them to be landscapers. The workers don't even need to be geniuses if they have decent bosses that can guide them. So I would look to the top for the poor performance. "

" got tired of seeing trash and winter sand/road stones on the sidewalks near our home. We cleaned the area in front of three homes this past weekend. What a difference it made. We bagged nails, pieces of glass, a disgarded diaper, candy wrappers, soda cans and cups and cigarette butts. It was gross. Certainly a mess and inexucsable. Doing it made us feel better about our block and it looked great. "

" actually it is a pretty quiet neighborhood, till people from other neighborhoods come into it and cause problems.why does it always have to be those two streets and the redsidents that are pin pointed as being bad.why not look at the names of those that get arrested here.not always those from the neighborhood! "

" oh yes the city of Auburn has weed eaters, BUT you have to have them on to have them work properly. While driving in Auburn I saw a bunch of people who I believe were supposed to be cutting the grass, but instead were all sitting and leaning on the weed eaters while the grass grew around them. I love where they put the plants in the medium down by the old Alco plant, I see they were recently mulched, but I dont think its going to work by just putting the mulch on top of the weeds. I was always taught to pull the weeds not cover them up. But hey what ever makes your boat float I guess. "

" have routes that take people thru the Skaneateles area as well as the Marcellus area for those that want to spend time in nearby towns, not to mention it isn't all that expensive to ride. They also go directly to the mall in Syracuse as well as the downtown area several times a day. You can catch one right in downtown Auburn and they drop you back off there as well. "

buses and spca wrote on May 21, 2007 2:59 PM:

" Centro does bus from Auburn to Downtown Syracuse through Skaneateles, Marcellus, Fairmount and Camillus. The SPCA does use volunteers, but people need to actually volunteer and show up. They also use workers from a welfare program, or used to anyway. "

" I find it funny that a certain school board candidate that lost just can't get over it. He wants a national search for a candidate but complains that Plume is leaving and moving south. Administrators in the school district or any school district will move to wherever they get the best deal. It's a fact of life. "

" how nice that you can be so holier than thou - that neighborhood is also HOME to a good number of people. I sincerely hope you at some point in your life you fully experience what it's like to live in an area that is badly in need of revitalization. it's people like you that make auburn the segregated cess pool that it is. " Just curious, doesn't the city of Auburn own weedeaters? Why bother cutting the grass and not trim around the taller grass. I remember when I worked for the city it was a mandatory part of our job ! Mr Palesh has not been around long enough but this city is filthy, why would any tourist come here, what a joke "
