Winning pitcher Amy Thomas struck out 11 and Michelle Townsend added three hits, including a home run and a double, as the Cato-Meridian softball team defeated Manlius Pebble Hill 15-6 on Wednesday.
The Blue Devils' Sara Millen, Danielle Halstead and Brandilyn Townsend each had two hits while Rachel VanNorstrand had a double and a triple. Nicole Aylesworth also doubled, and Kristi Garrigan homered.
Danielle Grader and Erin Grant picked up their first varsity hits.
Cato-Meridian (7-7) hosts Tully today.
BOYS LACROSSE
Jordan-Elbridge 10, Westhill 5
Kory Smart led the Eagles with three goals, Brian Belcher had two goals and two assists, and Joe Poppe chipped in with two goals.
Also leading Jordan-Elbridge were Kyle Merrill (one goal, one assist), R.J. Metz (one goal, one assist), James Hohm (one goal) and Steve Major (one assist).
Ken Bush had 13 saves in goal.
The Eagles (9-9) await sectional seeding.

The Wolves (10-5) will compete as a team Monday at sectionals in Marathon. The Chiefs (5-11) and Wolves will each play next Wednesday in the IAC Championships at Soaring Eagle Golf Course in Horseheads.

Flannery Nangle and Kailyn Liccion each scored three goals and Brittany Rabuano had one goal and one assist.

The Maroons (9-6) travel to play Rome Friday.
