Meg Cahill carded a 48 to lead the way for the Auburn girls golf team in a 215-218 win over West Genesee at Lakeview Country Club Tuesday.

The Maroons have defeated five of their last six opponents.

Mary Benedict scored a 51, Mindy Fowler had a 55, and Marisa Ranieri added a 61.

Auburn (7-5) faces Cicero-North Syracuse and Nottingham today at Riverbend Golf Course.

Andy Leary led the Panthers with a 45, Dan O'Hara scored a 53, and Dan Wilkinson added a 54.

SOFTBALL

Red Creek 8, Port Byron 3

Courtney Christina, Nica Dare and Chasity Wilcox each had a hit and a run, Samantha Kolczynski had a hit and an RBI, and Melissa Deyo, Shelby Gilbert and Alison Short each added a hit.

Britney Helmer allowed five earned runs on 12 hits with a strikeout and four walks.

FRESHMAN BASEBALL

Auburn 5, Rome Free Academy 2

Rob Watros doubled and earned the win, allowing three hits, one earned run and striking out six. Chris Anderson picked up the save with two strikeouts in one inning of work.

John Fiermonte led the offense, going 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Anderson doubled and drove in two, and Jared Humphrey doubled and had one RBI.

Auburn (5-3) hosts Cicero-North Syracuse Friday.
