A Moravia teenager was arrested Tuesday by the Cayuga County Sheriff's Office on charges he forcibly raped a 16-year-old female acquaintance after following her into a wooded area.
Brandon M. Thompson, 17, of 19 Abrio Drive, was charged with the felonies of first-degree rape and a first-degree sexual abuse.
The rape allegedly occurred Sunday, authorities said. Sheriff's deputies responded to the Pleasant Valley Trailer Park on Dresserville Road in response to a rape report.
The victim was treated and released at an area hospital, the sheriff's office reported.
Thompson was arraigned in Moravia Town Court. His bail was set at $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond. Anyone with information is asked to call detective Sgt. Fred Cornelius at 253-1610.
