Inmate admits to owning weapons

A Bronx man pleaded guilty in Cayuga County Court Tuesday to possessing a stabbing-type weapon in Auburn Correctional Facility Sept. 1, 2006. Antonio Pedraza, 39, pleaded guilty to the felony of attempted possession of dangerous contraband. The plea satisfied two charges of first-degree possession of dangerous contraband that he possessed two shanks in ACF.
Pedraza was discharged from Southport Correctional Facility after serving two to four years for a Bronx County conviction of attempted promotion of prison contraband and criminal sale of a controlled substance.

Pedraza also previously served two to four years for criminal sale of a controlled substance.

Pedraza is currently held in the Cayuga County Jail on $50,000 cash or $100,000 bond. Sentencing is scheduled for June 5. Livingston County Court Judge Robert B. Wiggins substituted for Cayuga County Surrogate Judge Mark Fandrich, who is recovering from surgery.

Also in court:

€ Motions were argued in the case of Raymond Clyde, 35, a state prisoner currently held in Upstate Correctional Facility, who has entered a not guilty plea to the felony charges of first-degree attempted rape, two counts of second-degree assault, first-degree unlawful imprisonment and first-degree promoting prison contraband.

Clyde is accused of attempting to rape a female civilian employee in the loading dock area behind the Auburn Correctional Facility's mess hall July 7, 2006, assaulting her and using a bed strip cloth to try to bind her wrists. Clyde is also accused of assaulting one of the male employees responding to the noise of the struggle. A Wade hearing was scheduled for 10 a.m. Sept. 28 to determine if witnesses can make an in-court identification of Clyde. Clyde is currently serving 20 to 50 years for the New York County convictions of first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy, first-degree robbery and first-degree burglary. Motions in Clyde's case are scheduled to be heard May 15.

€ Ruth Diaz, 27, of Apt. 1, 640 Catherine St., Syracuse, pleaded guilty to the felony of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance. She admitted selling crack cocaine to a police informant Dec. 2, 2005. Diaz previously rejected plea bargain offers twice. Her sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 7.

€ Todd King, 35, of 3 Derby Ave., Auburn, was sentenced to six months in Cayuga County Jail and 10 years probation for the felony of third-degree rape. King admitted having sexual intercourse twice with a 16-year-old girl last summer.
