A free long term care planning and insurance information seminar will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, at the Aurora Library. Refreshments will be served.

Support group to meet in Moravia
The Office for the Aging's Alzheimer's Community Service Program offers a support group for caregivers providing care to Alzheimer's and other dementias such as Parkinson's disease, Picks disease and other memory loss diagnosis.
The group meets at 4:30 p.m. the third Thursday of every month, at Christ
United Methodist Church on Congress Street in Moravia. The next meeting will be held May 17.

Presentation on strokes to be given
A presentation, “Recognizing and Preventing Stroke,” will be given by experts from University Hospital's Designated Stroke Center at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 17, at Cayuga Community College, 197 Franklin St., Auburn.
The free, hour-long program by Rochele Clark, University Hospital's stroke program coordinator, will provide information on how to lower one's risk of stroke and recognize stroke symptoms and discuss the importance of taking quick action to treat stroke.

Hormone connection in obesity discussed
Dr. Bernard Straile will lecture on the hormone connection in obesity and the food allergy connection to fat reduction at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 17, at 5631 W. Genesee St., Camillus.

Learn how to cut prescription costs
Residents of Seneca Falls and the surrounding area can learn how to cut prescription drug costs by attending an informational meeting hosted by AARP from 10:30 a.m. to noon, Friday, May 18, at the Seneca Falls Library, 47 Cayuga St.
Attendees will learn what AARP is doing in New York to help lower the cost of prescription drugs and discover resources and ways to lower prescription drug costs.
The presentation is free and refreshments will be served.

Take a walk for
better mental health
In honor of Mental Health Month in May, the Everson Museum of Art in Syracuse is co-sponsoring a free community walk at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 19. The walk will begin at the museum and continue through downtown Syracuse.
Mental health awareness T-shirts will be available for purchase, and light refreshments and speakers will follow the walk. The theme for this year's observance is “MIND Your Health.”
The event complements the recently opened exhibit, “The Lives They Left Behind: Suitcases from a State Hospital Attic,” which displays the complexities of mental health care and the mental health care system. It is currently on display at the museum, 401 Harrison St., Syracuse. To learn more, visit www.everson.org.
