If you haven't seen the movie “The Secret,” you will want to catch up with the rest of the world. It's been the hot topic on Larry King Live, Oprah and Ellen. Even William Shatner's character on “Boston Legal” took a humorous look at it.
This movie is an inspirational masterpiece that started when Australian television producer, Rhonda Byrne, was personally transformed by the 5,000-year-old teachings of the law of attraction.
We are all aware that our thoughts propel us throughout life. We can choose how much happiness to expect. Dr. Norman Vincent Peale's book, “The Power of Positive Thinking,” has been very popular since it was first published in 1952.
In “The Secret,” we are reminded that thoughts and feelings are the precursors to their matching results. Although these ideas seem to make perfect sense, Byrne noted throughout history and in her own life, the secret was suppressed. While great thinkers and achievers had certain common traits, why did they stand out from the rest of the population? This movie investigates simple ways to consistently apply the Secret to everyday life.
Every time I watch “The Secret” or read similar books about the law of attraction, I am reminded there is also a chiropractic secret.
During the early history of chiropractic, the first practitioners understood the “law of life,” in which there is a vitalistic force influencing health. Similar to the attraction principle of abundance materializing from abundant thinking, the chiropractic law of life notes there is a direct correlation between the flow of energy and the body's ability to heal. Albert Einstein later corroborated this early chiropractic teaching when he stated matter and energy are interchangeable.
If this is too much to swallow, remember everything is energy in some form. Thoughts are energy and when applied properly, they can change the world in physical and non-physical ways. This is the law of attraction.
In chiropractic, life is influenced by energy as it is applied to matter such as the human body. Specifically, the body responds to energy impulses through the nervous system. With this understanding, the intention of chiropractic is to release the available potential of the mind and body by maintaining the nervous system connections of the living human being.
Many think of chiropractic as a procedure to jump-start the healing process when the body is disturbed by an injury. However, saving it only for painful situations is opportunity woefully overlooked. The chiropractic secret promotes an ongoing process of renewal.
Is this really a secret? Of course not. When fully understood, it is very liberating to a person's state of mind and health. Understanding the chiropractic secret can take a little time to absorb because its connection to physics and neurobiology does not always seem relevant in daily life.
However, when making choices how to incorporate the mental, physical and spiritual aspects of wellness into your life the chiropractic secret becomes the foundational basis. You can promote an ongoing process of renewal by learning how to apply the chiropractic secret in your own life.
