Three Pennsylvania men have been charged by state police with allegedly breaking into a secured area at Willet Farm in Genoa and stealing anhydrous ammonia.
Jonathan L. Hollister, 31, Chad Ramey, 26, and Edward Wilbur, 39, all of Montrose, Pa., are charged with felony fourth-degree grand larceny and misdemeanor third-degree criminal trespass and second-degree criminal possession of methamphetamine manufacturing material. Anydrous ammonia is a fertilizer used in cooking the manmade stimulant meth.
All three are currently being held in Cayuga County Jail. Wilber was committed without bail and the other two had bail set at $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond.
The men were taken into custody in early March on Route 34 in Fleming after a state trooper stopped their vehicle, state police said. They fled on foot and after a search, were found 6.5 hours later.
Five gallons of anhydrous ammonia were found in a metal soda container inside the men's abandoned car, police said.
