The Auburn Plaza has a sunny forecast with the addition of Total Tan, expected this fall.
The Buffalo area indoor tanning outfit is expected to set up shop in half of the former Hancock Fabrics store, plaza developer Michael Wachs said Monday.

“We thought it would be a good fit,” co-owner Cindi Leonard said. The business she founded 14 years ago with her husband, Keith, now boasts 30 locations in New York and Pennsylvania. “Looking Fit,” a tanning salon industry magazine, included Total Tan on a top 250 list for 2007.

In addition to a half dozen different types of tanning equipment, Total Tan also offers oil, lotions and accessories. Tanning sessions will be available by the visit, in packages or unlimited monthly subscription.

The former Hancock Fabric space will be divided in half to house Total Tan and a temporary Halloween store, Wachs said.

East Coast arts and crafts dealer A.C. Moore is expected to move into the plaza by summer's end. The former Advance Auto Parts and Ace Hardware stores will be combined for that 22,000-square-foot project.

An anticipated lease agreement for the former On Cue space will bring Auburn Plaza to full occupancy, said Wachs, who also plans to repave the parking lot.

“It's certainly a this-year project,” he said.
