Trinity College managed its first win of the season, defeating Wells College 6-5 in the consolation game of the Atlantic Women's Colleges Conference tournament on Sunday.

The game was back and forth for 60 minutes with Trinity taking the lead, and Wells coming right back to tie it throughout the day.

The game was tied at 2-2 at the half with Wells holding a slight 13-10 edge in shots.

But Janie Pacheco scored three second-half goals, including the game-winner with 4:09 remaining.

The second half began with Sara Lee Cummings scoring her second of the game with 27:40 to play. Krystal Cleary, however, netted her first of three on the day to tie it at 3-3 less than three minutes later.

Pacheco gave the Tigers a 4-3 lead with 21 minutes remaining, but Express attack Melissa Vair picked up her second goal of the contest 1:23 later.

After Pacheco and Cleary traded goals midway through the half for a 5-5 deadlock, both teams battled through 10 minutes of scoreless play before Pacheco got free and netted the decisive goal with just over four minutes left.

Eva Leonzo Portillo made six saves in the Tiger goal on the day to pick up the win. Allie Inga stopped 11 for the Express.

The College of Notre Dame captured the title for the 12 time with an 11-2 win over Hood. The AWCC, in existence since 1995, will disband at the close of the 2007 season, and the Gators have captured each lacrosse title since conference play began in 1996.
