Each Monday, The
Citizen features someone from the Finger Lakes community.
This week, we spotlight Shari Rice, owner of Successful Organizing.
Q. What is the most rewarding part of your job?
A. The satisfaction I bring to my customers from helping them get organized.
Q.What is the most challenging aspect of your job?
A. Helping others part with items. Luckily, usually after the first couple hours, customers start feeling the relief of less clutter and are confident with the process of getting rid of items.
Q. What would be your dream job, and in what part of the world would you be working?
A. Successful Organizing is my dream job and I would enjoy working in an area that is warm all year round.
Q. What's the best way to relax after a tough day?
A. To sit and cuddle with my daughter and read books with her.
Q. What do you like most about the Finger Lakes?
A. I love the views in the Finger Lakes. It seems no matter where you go there is a beautiful scenic view.
Q. If you had the choice of meeting any three people in the world who would they be, and why?
A. This is a tough one! I would like to meet Oprah because she is a very successful business women, Hillary Clinton because she has accomplished so much in politics, and the last person I would like to meet is really a group: The characters at Disney World, because everyone needs a little fun in their lives.
Q. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
A. Professionally, I see myself running a very established and profitable organizing business. As far as my family goes, I see myself running around helping my daughter get ready for her high school graduation.
Q. If you were to win the lottery tomorrow, what#'s the first thing you'd do?
A. I would plan a Disney cruise or vacation for my entire family and my close friends. I would also pay off all my bills.
Q. What would people who think they know you be most surprised to find out about you?
A. I think that most people that I know would be surprised that my favorite pet of all time was a registered Holstein cow named “Zelson Noah Oreo Cookie” and that I was the Madison County Dairy Princess in 1989-90.
Q. If you were mayor or supervisor of your town/city, what#'s the first thing you'd change?
A. I would try to work with state officials to make it possible for local residents to have a discounted membership pass to Long Point State Park. Unfortunately, there are not many places for local residents to swim or picnic in the area, which is a real shame for such a beautiful community.
Q. Do you have any special plans for the next few months?
A. I plan to spend as much time as possible camping and hiking over the summer and holding our annual Fourth of July party.
