Maroons win in extras

Bob Buckley forced extra innings with a sacrifice fly in the seventh inning and earned the win, throwing 3 1-3 scoreless innings as the Auburn baseball team came from behind to defeat Nottingham 7-6 in eight innings.
The Maroons took the lead for good in the top of the eighth. Mike Assmann led off with a double and scored on an error. Brandon DeBagio, who reached on the error, later scored on a wild pitch to give Auburn it's one-run advantage.

Chris Gomez pitched well in the start, throwing four strong innings. Noah Donch had two hits and one RBI, and Ryan Gleason drove in two runs.

Auburn also had six stolen bases in the game.

The Maroons (4-3 overall, 2-3 league) host Baldwinsville today at Falcon Park.

Moravia 14, Groton 0

The game was called after five innings due to a lack of pitchers on the Groton squad, after Dustin Lefave pitched all five innings and allowed one hit while striking out five for the win.

The Blue Devils, who played their first error-free game of the season, were led by Mike Drake's three hits and two RBIs. Justin Stanton and A.J. Rouse each added two hits and an RBI, and Greg Langtry plated three runs.

Moravia (6-4, 6-3) hosts a doubleheader with Southern Cayuga today.

Skaneateles 15, Jordan-Elbridge 3

Nick Pesarchick kept the Eagles in check for 6 1-3 innings, allowing three runs - one earned - six hits and two walks while striking out six.

Matt Wild was 3-for-5 with a double and five RBIs, Josh Sherman had two RBIs and two runs, and Brandon Mercado was 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI.

The Lakers (4-7, 2-3) are at Solvay on Friday.

Onondaga 5, Weedsport 2

Corey Hinman was 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Bryce Leitten was 2-for-4 with a double for the Warriors.

Chris Chase added a double, and Nick Topichak went the distance on the mound, allowing only four hits and striking out five.

Weedsport plays Friday against Union Springs in the Cayuga County Tournament at Falcon Park.

Tully 7, Port Byron 5

The Panthers couldn't hold on to a 5-1 lead in the fifth inning, and a six-run rally by Tully was enough for the win.

The Blue Devils had two runners on with one out in the seventh, but back-to-back ground balls got the Black Knights out of the jam.

Dan Jefferds was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, Mitch David had two doubles and two RBIs, and Jake Bennett singled and had an RBI.

Kent Pitcher pitched the first four innings before being relieved by Matt Janusz, and the duo combined for nine strikeouts.

The Panthers (1-7) will play in the Cayuga County Tournament starting Friday at Falcon Park.

Fabius Pompey 11,

Cato-Meridian 0

The Blue Devils put a runner on base in every single inning but couldn't bring one across the plate.

Pete Marascalchi, T.K. Hayden, Ethan Pratt, Kyle Goldthwait and Matt Schmidt each had a hit.

Cato-Meridian (3-3) plays at Pulaski Friday.
