Man charged with protection violation
A 19-year-old man was charged Thursday by state police in Wolcott with having a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl in violation of an order of protection.
Stephen R. Lang, of 12228 Old State Road, Cato, was charged with the felonies of second-degree rape and second-degree criminal sex act and the misdemeanors of endangering the welfare of a child and second-degree criminal contempt.
State police said Lang previously was convicted in Wayne County for having a relationship with the girl in violation of statutory rape laws and an order of protection was issued. Police said Lang allegedly continued the relationship in violation of the order leading to the most recent charges.
Teen charged with first-degree rape
A 16-year-old teenager was charged Wednesday by state police in Wolcott with forcibly raping a 16-year-old female. Thomas L. Anderson, of 1109 Schooley Road, Cato, was charged with the felony of first-degree rape.
Anderson was acquainted with the victim and allegedly committed the rape last November, state police said.
Jail announces housing statistics
The Cayuga County Jail was housing 169 inmates as of Saturday, April 28, the Sheriff's Office reported. A total of 141 adult men and 15 adult women over the age of 19 are in custody. A total of 22 male minors and a total of two female minors between the ages of 16 to 18 are in custody.
One inmate is boarded in from another county, and 36 inmates are boarded in from federal custody. A total of 78 inmates have pending criminal matters and have a pre-sentencing status, and 55 are serving a sentence. Nine are serving time related to parole violations.
Police say man hit woman with cast
A Red Creek man has been charged with assaulting his girlfriend by hitting her in the head with his arm cast.
Joshua C. Crowningshield, 21, of 14564 Route 104, was charged April 15 by state police in Wolcott with the felony of second-degree assault.
On the same day Crowningshield turned himself in to police, he was a passenger in a vehicle his 18-year-old girlfriend was driving on Route 38A in Sterling. The two were arguing; he struck her once in the head with his cast but she was able to deflect another attempted blow, state police said. The woman was treated for a concussion at Oswego Hospital, state police said.
