After much thought and consideration, I have decided not to run for re-election to the Cayuga County Legislature, serving the towns of Owasco and Sennett.
Over the past 17 years, I had the pleasure of sitting on a number of community boards, school organizations, the Auburn School Board and most recently, as a county legislator for District 6.
During my tenure as a county legislator we were able to create the position of the county manager, televise county legislative meetings, improve upon our health, wellness and safety programs that are offered for county employees, and we were able to put our finances back in order.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time on the legislative body, the people I have met and all that I have learned.
As a three-year colorectal cancer survivor, I have recently been asked to assist with a number of advocacy groups and the American Cancer Society in their efforts at raising awareness of this disease and how early screening can save lives.
I look forward to working together with our local, state and federal elected officials in breaking down the barriers of embarrassment and ignorance so that we can help prevent thousands of unnecessary colorectal deaths.
Best wishes to my successor and thank you for entrusting me to be your representative for these rewarding years. God bless.
