Romantic show enchants theater

On a rainy London morning in post World War I England, friends Lotty Wilson and Rose Arnott are stuck in loveless marriages and dominated by boorish husbands.
While meeting at their ladies club, they hit upon a bold plan - they will rent a seaside villa in Tuscany for a spring holiday, sharing expenses with the opinionated Mrs. Graves and the gin-soaked Lady Caroline.

The decision launches them on a voyage of self discovery. That is the premise of the heart-warming comedy “Enchanted April,” Matthew Barber's stage adaptation of the 1921 Elizabeth von Arnim novel, directed by Becky Bly for the Seneca Community Players' 35th season.

The show opens this weekend with performances at the Delavan Theater located on the campus of the New York Chiropractic College in Seneca Falls.

The women are played by Pam Rapoza, Laura Feligno, Kathy Radley and Mariah Ernhout. Also in the cast are RJ Rapoza as Lotty's husband, Mellersh, a supercilious and stuffy solicitor who firmly believes a woman's place is in the home. Jeb Albro plays Rose's husband, Frederick, a breezy, sarcastic and sad man who writes historical novels under a pen name. Patrick Fegley as Antony Wilding, the villa's landlord, and Debbie Swenson as the Italian maid, Costanza, round out the company.
