For all New York sports fans out there, heaven will land Sunday, at the New York State Fairgrounds in the form of the “Collectorfest” sports memorabilia show. From NASCAR to baseball this event promises to be a sports collector's paradise.
CNY Promotions is celebrating its 21st year of promoting collectible shows in central New York with its 45th exhibition. The event will host 63 vendors at nearly 150 tables. Promoter and owner of CNY Promotions Lyn Lake anticipates more than 900 collectors.
“Our ‘Collectorfest' shows are the biggest shows in upstate New York and consist of sports memorabilia, race memorabilia, sports and non-sports cards, autographs, Beanie Babies, comics, starting line up, toys and a whole lot more,” Lake wrote on the company's Web site.
“Many vendors sell what we call ‘supplies' or materials for storage. One man sells ‘Monster boxes' that hold up to 50,000 cards, as well as baseball bat tubes,” Lake said.
This year's guest autographers will be former Yankees Al Downing and Bill “Moose” Skowron.
Downing pitched for the Yanks from 1961 to 1969 and includes playing in the 1963, '64 and '74 World Series.
Skowron was a first baseman for the Yanks from 1954 to 1962 and played in eight World Series and was a six-time All Star. Both men will be available for autographs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Autographs will cost $10.
