Still time to sign up for Little League
Any player, age 8 to 12, that missed sign-ups for Pony and Little League baseball, can call Dave at 567-9458 for an application.

Sandlot baseball sign-ups today

Registration for Kids Sandlot Baseball will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, April 1, at the P&C grocery store.

D-days Wall of Fame taking votes

Online voting has now begun for the Doubledays Wall of Fame. Fans can log on to www.auburndoubledays.com and vote for this year's newest member.

This year's nominees include Tug McGraw, Rick Dempsey, Billy Wagner and Jerry Koosman.

McGraw was a member of the Auburn Mets in 1964 before bringing his famous screwball to the Major Leagues.

The colorful Rick Dempsey was an Auburn was an Auburn Twin in 1968 and went on to play 24 seasons in the pros while also winning the 1983 World Series MVP award.

Four-time All-Star Billy Wagner played with the Auburn Astros in 1993 and is currently the closer for the New York Mets.

Jerry Koosman was an Auburn Met in 1966 before becoming an All-Star with the big league Mets in 1968.

Voting will continue for the player category until the end of April. At that point, voting for the contributor category will begin.

The Doubledays Wall of Fame inductee will be announced at the Doubleday FanFest on June 2.

Tryouts for Icebirds begin April 21

American Icebirds AAA will hold tryouts at 7:15 p.m. Saturday, April 21, at the Meachem Ice Rink in Syracuse.

American Icebirds AAA will start its fourth season in April and will be available to Bantam and Midget players. All positions are open.

The team will practice out of Syracuse and will compete in tournaments until mid-July.

Rec softball rosters now available

Rosters for the upcoming 2007 Summer Softball Program are now available at the Public Works Garage at 358 Genesee St., Auburn.

The rosters must be completed by April 5.

AHS Hall of Fame seeks nominations

The Auburn High School Hall of Fame is now accepting nominations. Forms can be picked up at the Auburn YMCA, Lewis Restaurant, or the Auburn athletic office on Thornton Avenue.

All candidates for the AHS Hall of Fame must be nominated by someone else, and once nominated that person will remain on the ballot.

Nominations must be received by June 30. The banquet will be Nov. 3 at Springside Inn.
