Eagles pour the pressure on Homer

Joe Poppe tore off three goals and added an assist to lead the Jordan-Elbridge boys lacrosse team to a 9-4 victory over Homer on Saturday.
Kory Smart added two goals and an assist, while Kyle Merrill and James Hohm took advantage of the Trojans for a goal and two assists each. Brian Belcher scored one and passed for another, Tom Guadagnolo added one goal, and Steve Major had an assist. Goalie Ken Bush tallied 22 saves.

The Eagles (2-0) travel to Marcellus (2-0) on Tuesday.

Vestal 16, Auburn 6

Matt Chadderdon led the Maroons in scoring with three goals and two assists in the loss. Bob Brannigan added two goals, and Sean Hogan chipped in with one.

Goalie Mark Green had 10 saves, and Kevin Dyer grabbed one. The Golden Bears outshot the Maroons 35-28 and had the slight advantage in ground balls, 42-41.

Auburn (0-2) is at Liverpool on Tuesday.
