How about all of the phony hoopla created with the self-proclaimed fanfare announcements for county public office, What's next, a marching band? You'd think these local yokels were running for President.
What's with all of the local big production announcements about running for political office, pick up a telephone and call the newspaper? You're not all that important a news story.

Mr. Cosentino, ref: your 3/30 article, Auburn can only wish you had this intensity to advocate for your main job. You had your chance to change the city, please give it a rest!

The homeowners in Fleming should get the land free. I believe there is a law that if one uses the land long enough they can claim it and I do not own any of it.

Wake up! The only reason there are no potholes on John Walsh Boulevard is because there's no traffic.

Forget the casino, Lattimore. Where is your promise about good paying jobs in Auburn?

I just read that the state's going to give us a property rebate check back, but just watch our Cayuga County leaders and city leaders raise our taxes to get that into their hands. I can just see them wringing their hands together and the school board is probably doing back-flips.

Does George Fearon actually think that no new jobs in the county are better than a large number of new jobs no matter what the wage may be? Most county residents do not have the option of resigning from the county legislature and collecting a good state pension and then being re-appointed to head the legislature at a nice salary.

" Untill Gov. Spitzer, or any elected official, can tame the hugely corrupt and never changing workers compensation system, wages will remain stagnant. "

" I agree with the poster who wrote about being removed from office when they dont come through for the voters. The only thing I would add is why stop with the City? The County, The State and The UNITED STATES governments should all be held accountable! "

" There is also something called Quit- Claims on land! Just ask me it cost me $35,000 to get back a piece of property that had been owned by my family for 32 years. The good ole boy justice system of Cayuga County really STUCK it to me, and in the end because so many people were at fault for letting this quit-claim go through I only got back 1/2 of my property and had to be happy about it or spend another few thousand dollars. There were surveyors, lawyers, other land owners that knew the land was mine but I had to give up and take this settlement, mainly because I ran out of money to keep paying. Beware of trying to get a fair shake on anything in Cayuga County! "

Officials should be removed if they are not doing their job wrote on Apr 1, 2007 9:36 AM:

" When city officials are running for election, people vote for them based on their promises. In other words their speeches and promises got them their position at city hall. If those promises are not met, I believe they were elected illegally and should be removed. After all they are not doing their job they were elected for. I suggest that ALL city officials have maybe two years or so to fulfill their campaign promises, if not they need to be replaced. In other jobs, if you were interviewed for a job and said you had a service that you were qualified for, and the company found out that you were not, you would be fired. I see no difference with the city officials. "

P.J. wrote on Apr 1, 2007 8:12 AM:
