Mirbeau Inn & Spa has withdrawn its application to construct a Mirbeau resort in the village of Rhinebeck, citing other potential locales that would be more suitable.
Gary Dower, owner of the Skaneateles Mirbeau, announced the company's withdrawal in a March 15 letter to the Rhinebeck village planning board.
He said that Mirbeau had "identified several locations in the Hudson Valley Area that we feel are better suited to our needs and where our project can fit well into the overall planning goals of the community."
The Rhinebeck proposal had met with some concern from village residents and officials about its size and location.
Town Supervisor Steven Block had said in August that residents were worried that the area already has a traffic and parking problem on the weekends.
