Auburn man guilty of resisting arrest
An Auburn man pleaded guilty to the charges he faced in Auburn City Court Wednesday after a jury had already been selected for his trial, Assistant District Attorney Chris Valdina said.

Testimony was set to start when Dana Grimes Sr., with a last known address of 23 Orchard St., decided to plead guilty to the misdemeanor of resisting arrest and the violation of disorderly conduct.

Authorities said that Grimes was outside of the Rockin Robin bar on State Street in Auburn around 1:20 a.m. Sept. 29 causing a disturbance when Auburn Police Department officers responded. According to police, when officers decided to arrest Grimes, he assumed a fighting stance and tried to yank his arm away when an officer tried to put his arm in handcuffs.

A pre-sentencing investigation was ordered ahead of Grimes' sentencing May 1. Grimes could be sentenced up to one year in Cayuga County Jail for the misdemeanor and 15 days for the violation.

AMH reports $81,000 net loss for February

Auburn Memorial Hospital had a net operating loss of $81,000 in February, the hospital reported Wednesday.

But John Baran, AMH's interim chief financial officer said in a news release, that the hospital's finances improved by $578,000 between January and February 2006 and January and February 2007 because of a net operating gain of $47,000 for the first two months of this year.

Baran also said the hospital is on target for its March budget. The hospital also expects to announce a permanent chief executive officer in the near future.

COB's two caucus rooms get new flags

Tim Noga, secretary of the Federation of Conservation Clubs of Cayuga County, gave two flags for the County Office Building's two caucus rooms, including the room where the county Legislature meets.

The club meets in a caucus room during the winter. The members provided the flags because both groups say the Pledge of Allegiance to kick off each meeting.

" This guy should not get any consideration for plea bargining. Plea bargining is meant to avoid the cost of a trial. If you have picked the Jury, doesn't that mean you have done every thing you need to do for a trail? He did not save anyone anything for pleading guilty that late in the process. Max him out!!!!! "
