A search is being conducted in the area of Wayne County's LeRoy Island in the eastern part of Sodus Bay for a fisherman reported missing Monday night.
The man is not being identified by the New York State Police.
A caller first contacted authorities about a suspicious vehicle around 9:15 p.m. Monday, but as authorities investigated the vehicle's origin they discovered that the vehicle's owner had been expected home three hours earlier.
A helicopter was not able to join the search due to heavy fog overnight, said Sgt. Gary Hand of the New York State Police in Wolcott.
But authorities began the search as soon as they possibly could Tuesday, Hand said.
The state police, the Wayne County Sheriff's Office, area fire departments and the U.S. Coast Guard are conducting the search.
