Roads, turf and elections

There are a few subjects that have not gained the attention they deserve because they are deemed low priority compared to the other political maneuvering going on throughout our city:

€ We haven't had the chance to discuss the condition our roads are in. You could have your eyes closed and still know when you hit Auburn City limits because you are sucked into ditch after ditch. It doesn't matter what direction you enter our fair city from, it's dangerous. Make sure your seatbelt is on; otherwise you will be thrown from your seat into a crater.

We usually blame our pothole situation on our hard winters and all the road salt we had to use but how could that be? If you recall our roads were a mess before we even had any wintery weather conditions. So it couldn't be the slippery conditions that forced us to pour on the salt. Either we're not paying contractors to do the work they are supposed to do so our streets are properly maintained, or our construction workers aren't giving us our money's worth when they do their repairs.
