The Auburn Doubledays fifth Annual Hot Stove Dinner and Silent Auction will be held Friday, Jan. 26 at the Sunset Restaurant in Auburn. The dinner will feature special guests Adam Lind and Dennis Holmberg.
Lind was a member of the 2004 Doubledays team. He was a New York-Penn League All-Star after leading the Doubledays in most offensive categories. This past season, Lind was named the AA Eastern League's MVP before being promoted to Syracuse (AAA) where he batted .394 with five home runs and 18 RBI.

Finally, Lind was promoted to the Toronto Blue Jays where he hit .367 with two homers and eight RBI including a two-out, game-winning home run on the last day of the year at Yankee Stadium.

Holmberg is the longest tenured manager in Auburn history and has captured five straight Pinckney Division championships. He has posted 240 victories as skipper.

Also at the dinner, the second group of nominees for the Auburn Baseball Wall of Fame at Falcon Park will be announced.

Last season, fans elected Team President, Leo Pinckney and former Auburn and New York Yankees player, Mel Stottlemyre, as the first ever inductees.

Proceeds from the dinner and silent auction will go to local charities.

Past dinners have raised $11,000 for charities including the Hillside Children's Center, the United Way, the Leo A. Pinckney Scholarship Fund and the New York-Penn League Charitable Foundation.

Tickets for the dinner are available by calling the Auburn Doubledays at 255-2489. The cost is $30 which includes a family-style dinner.

This year, seating will be assigned by the order in which tickets are purchased so those interested are strongly encouraged to get their tickets early.

The silent auction will begin at 5:30 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m.

" Thanks for the Great seasons, how about helping Local Baseball. We need to keep the children of Auburn involved in the Game.. "

" Hey! Port Byron won their homecoming game last Friday night and their modified team is undefeated - how about a mention? Oh right, it's all about Auburn and Skaneateles' kids. How silly of me! "
