A northern Cayuga County ambulance service will receive a $125,000 loan-grant combination to finance a replacement for its fleet.
CIMVAC, the Cato-Ira-Meridian-Victory Ambulance Corps, will use a $25,000 grant and $100,000 low-interest loan from the U.S. Department of Argriculture Rural Development, according to Monday announcement from the office of U.S. Rep. Jim Walsh, R-Syracuse.
"Every 10 years we rotate out our ambulances, and this one is past due," CIMVAC Chief Deanna Graves said.
The corps will replace the old transport with a 2007 Chevrolet Type III ambulance. The corps uses two ambulances to service the five towns in its name.
The funds are part of the USDA Rural Development's Community Facilities program that has released more than $10 million to public and nonprofit agencies in New York last year.
"The USDA's investment in crucial emergency services goes well beyond a dollar figure," Walsh said in a press release. "This funding will have a direct impact on the health and well-being of the community."
