Seymour Library has completed its collection of The Citizen on microfilm from 1905 to the present.
A monetary gift from former Auburn resident David Momot enabled the library to complete the microfilm collection.
The library's collection of the newspaper dated back to 1963 prior to Momot's gift. The library also already had publications from 1905 to 1913. His donation allowed the library to purchase editions from 1913 to 1962 through the New York State Library.
Momot has relatives in Auburn and Cayuga County. He now resides in Florida and comes to Seymour Library to conduct genealogical research when he visits.
The microfilm is available at the library during regular hours. Patrons who wish to use it should request it at the main desk.
The microfilm is also available online, along with other Seymour Library microfilm holdings of Cayuga County newspapers dating back to the early 1800s at
www.fultonhistory.com.
