PTO to hold Internet safety presentation
The East Middle School's PTO will host a presentation on Internet safety at 7:30 tonight, in the school library. Otis Jennings of the New York State Consumer Protection Board will address the topic of what parents need to know about keeping their children safe while using computers.

During the presentation, parents will learn about popular Web sites like My Space and Face Book and how to safeguard their children's experiences on the Internet.

Rally for Life info kickoff held tonight

An informational kickoff rally will be held tonight for the Relay for Life event planned later this year.

The annual event, which raises funds for the fight against cancer, is scheduled for June 1 and 2 this year. Interested participants and team leaders can learn more at the informational session, which is being hosted from 6 to 7 p.m. by the Auburn Public Theater in downtown Auburn.

County home sales down in January

Home sales were down, but the median price was up in the Cayuga County housing market in January.

Sales slumped about 16.3 percent compared to January 2006, dropping from 43 to 36 this year.

Conversely, median prices jumped about 50 percent, climbing from $90,000 in January 2006 to $135,500 this year.

Those monthly numbers reflect the final tally for 2006. While sales dropped about 8.7 percent, the median price increased 8 percent compared to 2005.

Statewide, home sales decreased 1.4 percent and the median price increased 1.7 percent to $300,000 compared to January 2006, according to the New York State Association of Realtors.

J-E invites seniors to attend musical

The Jordan-Elbridge Central School district invites local senior citizens to attend a dress rehearsal for the musical “Hello, Dolly!” at 9:20 a.m. Thursday, March 8.

The performance will take place in the high school auditorium.

Senior citizens residing in the school district can attend at no cost.

Transportation will be provided for seniors as follows:

€ Leave Red Kettle Trailer Park at 8:30 a.m.

€ Leave Champion Trailer Park at 8:40 a.m.

€ Leave Elbridge Big M parking lot at 8:45 a.m.

€ Leave Erie Apartments at 8:50 a.m.

€ Leave Jordan Big M parking lot at 9 a.m.

The play will begin at 9:20 a.m.

Following the dress rehearsal, return transportation will be provided to the above destinations. Guests are encouraged to invite friends.
