On Wednesday of this week the City of Auburn will establish a health record for the entire country. That record will be that not a single death from the dread diphtheria occurred in that time. This record will be due to the immunization of all Auburnians.

County government is tightening its process for reimbursing county sheriff's department employees for dry cleaning their uniforms and for clothing allowances for highway workers. Stricter guidelines were implemented this week after it was discovered the sheriff's department reimbursed employees for dry cleaning then discarded the bills.

According to the state public records law, the department should have kept itemized bills for six years. Neither the department nor the county kept copies.
