Libraries sponsor community read
The Aurora Free Library and Hazard Library, in Poplar Ridge, are co-sponsoring the 2007 Southern Cayuga Community Read.
This year's chosen book is “The Grapes of Wrath” by John Steinbeck, published in 1939.
People are encouraged to read or re-read the novel. A limited number of free copies of the book are available at the Aurora Free Library and at Hazard Library.
A community discussion of the novel will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, at the Friends Meeting House on Poplar Ridge Road.
The movie, “Grapes of Wrath,” will be show for free at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 31, at the Morgan Opera House, located above the Aurora Free Library. Student art will be shown prior to the show at 6:30 p.m.

Cato Rotary to
celebrate anniversary
The Cato Rotary will celebrate its 60th anniversary Thursday, May 24.
Club members will join guests at the Auburn Holiday Inn for dinner and fellowship.
Anyone wishing to join Rotarians to commemorate their 60 years of service are welcome to contact any member for more information.
Tickets for the annual 50/50 raffle have been distributed to all club members. The fundraiser helps Rotarians support both local and international projects. The drawing takes places Sunday, May 6, at the La Buff Cole American Legion Pancake Breakfast.
Students want to learn about Schine
Students in the Herman Avenue Elementary School chorus want to learn people's memories of the Schine Auburn Theater, to inform an upcoming performance. The chorus plans to feature the theater in its spring concert, “Once Upon a Schine,” which is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. April 11, in the school auditorium. The school will also host a matinee for senior citizens at 1:15 p.m. April 9. Students will be singing and dancing to songs from movies that were shown at the Schine.

Schweinfurth seeks artistic submissions
The Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center is seeking more artistic submissions for its juried June 30 to August 25 exhibition, “Made in New York 2007.” The new entry deadline is April 4.
Each artist may submit up to two works. Entry is free to members and $20 for non-members. Two- and three-dimension work is being accepted, including, but not limited to: ceramics, digital art, drawing, fiber painting, photography and sculpture.

Palesh, Eidel to appear on shows
The guest on “Inside Government with Guy Cosentino” this week will be Auburn's new city manager, Mark Palesh. Among the subjects to be covered will be his background, what his objectives are for the coming year and the city's upcoming budget process. The show will air at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, on channel 12.
On “Beyond the Front Page with Guy Cosentino,” Carrie Eidel of the Auburn Public Theater will discuss the first year of the theater's operations, plans for the second year and upcoming activities. The show will run at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, on channel 12.
