Each Monday, The Citizen features someone from the Finger Lakes community.
This week, we spotlight Patty Petrosino, special events clerk at Schwartz Towers.
Q. What is the most rewarding part of your job?
A. Reaching out to someone that needs help with anything.
Q. What is the most challenging aspect of your job?
A. To keep everyone happy.
Q. What would be your dream job, and in what part of the world would you be working?
A. This is my dream job. I've been working for the city for 30 years. I started at Hoopes Park working in the gardens, and I've been doing office work for 20 years.
Q. What is your favorite part of the day?
A. Seeing people smile.
Q. What's the best way to relax after a tough day?
A. To just sit down at home.
Q. What do you like most about the Finger Lakes region?
A. I like the area for the scenery and the weather.
Q. If you had the choice of meeting any three people in the world who would they be, and why?
A. Rod Stewart is my favorite, and I'd like to meet the president so I could tell him what I think. Also, I'd like to meet the parts of my family that I wish I was older when I met, like my grandparents. I wish I could have understood more when I met them.
Q. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
A. I can't tell if I'm going to retire, but I'll probably still be here.
Q. If you were to win the lottery tomorrow, what's the first thing you'd do?
A. I'd pay all my bills and buy a new car.
Q. What would people who think they know you be most surprised to find out about you?
A. That there's a piece of my brain missing. I had a piece scraped out during surgery.
Q. Do you have any special plans for the next few months?
A. We're trying out different trips and events with the seniors. In April, we'll be going to Turning Stone to play Bingo. I put up a sign not expecting much, but we've got 54 people signed up. We'll also be going to the Christmas Tree Shops in Syracuse; it's kind of like a dollar store where they can buy decorations. And in June, we're going to the Culinary Institute in Hyde Park. The students will cook for us, and we'll take a tour.
