The faces of civil liberties will be on display at a photo-journal exhibit beginning today at Wells College in Long Library in Aurora.
Titled “Faces of Liberty,” the traveling display showcases the stories of 22 New Yorkers who relate to civil liberties and the Bill of Rights.
The black-and-white pictures feature men, women, boys and girls who stood up for their beliefs, that can sometimes be thought of as complex. Accompanying text will help viewers understand their issues.
This particular exhibit will be centered on upstate New Yorkers from Albany, Buffalo, Syracuse and Rochester.
The public is invited during regular library hours to view the photographs for free.
“Faces of Liberty” is an educational project of the New York Civil Liberties Union Foundation.
It has visited more than 80 libraries throughout the state, and Wells College is among one of the 40 university libraries to display it.
The exhibit circulates on a monthly basis. It comes to Wells from Cayuga Community College.
After March 27, “Faces of Liberty” will move on to Colgate University.
