Town of Owasco Supervisor Merrill Badman has resigned.
Badman turned in his resignation, effective immediately, to the town clerk's office on Wednesday. He cited the strain of caring for his wife, Hazel, who suffered a stroke in the fall, as his reason for stepping down.
"I fully realize that I cannot devote sufficient time to my duties as Owasco supervisor while Hazel's health remains in such jeopardy," he wrote in his resignation letter.
Badman had considered stepping down for the same reasons at the end of last year, but decided to remain in office after hearing from residents who asked him to continue, he said.
