Home engulfed

SCIPIO - As Stephanie Nelson watched firefighters finish clearing flames and smoke from her home in Scipio Friday afternoon she said the biggest loss is the destruction of her husband's many manuscripts, letters and notebooks filled with his writings, that she suspected were now nothing but ashes.

A fire official said that the fire was likely caused by the wood stove, based on information provided by neighbor, Bill King, who entered the home at 3617 Keesee Road, after calling 911. Firefighters were still investigating late Friday.

Homeowners Howard and Stephanie Nelson weren't home at the time.
