Nuggets win high school title

Shawn Patterson scored 25 points, and Ryan LaRue added 20 as the Nuggets defeated the Bulls 82-58 in the Auburn CYO High School League basketball championship game.
Mike Assmann scored 13 points, Bill Weiman added 10, and J.D. LaRue also added 10 for the Nuggets.

Other members of the champion Nuggets include Matt Schattinger, Eddie Charles, Brian Church, Nick Bolak and Tom Ferlenda.

The Bulls were led by Anthony Siracusa with 24 points and Matt Cuff with 11 points.

FIFTH/SIXTH GRADE CYO

St. Alphonsus I 48,

Holy Family 35

St. Alphonsus I capped a perfect 12-0 season with a victory over Holy Family to win the championship.

Justin Fasce led St. Alphonsus with 21 points, Ryan McCormick added 16, and T.J. Sochan chipped in with six. Other members of St. Alphonsus include Devin Gunnip, Katie Cooper, Brandon Fasce and Jenna Zammett.

Matt Nolan had 14 points and Mark Bachman added 12 for Holy Family.

St. Alphonsus II 33,

Sacred Heart I

Will Page and Matt Netti each led St. Alphonsus with 10 points in the consolation game.

Tom Herbert (13 points) and Katie Ambrose (six points) led Sacred Heart.

Holy Family 48,

St. Alphonsus II 18

Nolan led Holy Family with 17 points and Bachman chipped in with 15 in a first-round playoff game. Netti added 10 points and Page scored six to lead St. Alphonsus.

St. Alphonsus I 37,

Sacred Heart I 25

McCormick had 18 points, and Fasce scored 18 in a first-round game.

Ryan Ringwood led Sacred Heart with 14 points. Bobby Cuddy and Tom Herbert added four points each.

FIFTH GRADE BOYS CCYO

Pit Stop Convenience Store 24,

Jordan-Elbridge 18

Austin McDeid poured in 11 points, while Michael Gray scored four points and hauled in five rebounds for Pit Stop.

Ben Whittico scored 10 points for Jordan-Elbridge, and Jim Clifford added five.

Auburn Vision Care 33,

Port Byron 28

Auburn's Mike Charles scored 21 points, while Jay Mizro and Micah Quigley each scored six. Juston Werner played well defensively.

Port Byron's Cormac Green and Tyler Dickson scored 10 points apiece.

FIFTH/SIXTH GRADE

GIRLS CCYO

DB's Drive In 22, Skaneateles 15

DB's was led by Gabriel LaForce (12 points) and Cassie Weeks (six points), while Skaneateles was paced by Jo Spaulding (eight points).

Auburn Printery 33,

Southern Cayuga 9

Auburn's Emily Alexander and Nicole VanArsdale both chipped in with six points. Annie Giannone led the defense.

SIXTH GRADE BOYS CCYO

Crowley Lighting 29, Moravia 7

Dan DeFranco and Cameron Sanders each led Crowley with 12 points while Javon McCloud and Joe Marinelli led the defense.

Eugene Allen led Moravia with seven points.

Holiday Inn 39, Weedsport 29

Holiday Inn was led by Chris Courtney (17 points) and Luke Boddicker (six points). Brandon Perry and Tyler Carroll led the defensive effort.

Adam Fritz Construction 29

Chris Courtney scored 17 points for Holiday Inn and Luke Buthicker added six points.

Eric Leach scored 10 points and Lance Meyers added six for Adam Fritz.

SEVENTH GRADE BOYS CCYO

Moore Landscape Service 64,

Southern Cayuga 28

Jamie Terry (16 points) and Mike Gamba (13 points) led Moore while Tim Murphy played well defensively.

For Southern Cayuga, Todd Brooks and Kyle Milliman each chipped in with seven points.

Auburn I 74, Port Byron 42

Zach LaDouce scored 22 points, Joe Deangelis added 13, and Matt Carberry chipped in with 10.

Vince Giantino scored 12 points for Port Byron.

Walton Trucking 46,

Byrn Trophy 36

Austin Ashby (14 points) and Pat Farrell (11 points) led Walton, while Kayree Rufus (14 points) and Cody Allen (six points) paced Byrn.

Walton Trucking 39, Nucor 18

Ben Wasilenko had 11 points and eight rebounds, while Drew Lane chipped in with eight points for Walton.

Nucor was led by McKenzie Brady's four points.

EIGHTH GRADE BOYS CCYO

R.J. Jewelers 40,

Southern Cayuga 31

Andrew Sanders scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead R.J. in a rematch of last year's seventh-grade finals.

Brendan Raftis scored 11 points for R.J., and Mike Ferlenda was praised for his leadership.

Zach VanNostrand scored 21 points to lead Southern Cayuga.

Auburn III 66, Port Byron 48

Mike Granato (22 points), Jabari Penda (14 points) and Jacques Bates (15 points) led Auburn.

Nick Bolak solidified the defense.

Aub. Community Computer II 33,

Jordan-Elbridge 30

Anthony Pollard scored nine points and Connor Engle added eight for Auburn Community Computer II. Auburn had to overcome a 16-3 deficit in the game.

Jake Leader also scored seven points while the defense was led by Joey Chindamo, Trevor Doan, Greg Giannotta and Nick Koziol.
