The Skaneateles hockey team scored five goals in the second period, and the Lakers throttled past Ontario Bay in a 9-3 victory on Sunday for their fourth straight win and 10th victory in their last 11 games.
The Lakers (16-7-0, 12-3-0) also clinched the No. 2 seed in the East Division. They open the playoffs with a home game Friday against third-ranked Whitesboro (11-11-1, 8-5-0) of the West Division at 7:30 p.m., the first meeting between the teams this season.
The win comes a day after Skaneateles won by forfeit over Central Square, which didn't have enough players to field a team.
Keith Buehler led the way with three goals and two assists, Tory Cole added two more, and Jacob Bird, Kaj Beck-Anderson, Kyle Christine and Drake Hill had a goal apiece. Matt Wood had three assists, and Anthony Navaroli and Patrick Emmer each had two assists. Ryan Dove and Will Kraus each had one assist.
Alex Richichi stopped 15 of 18 shots between the pipes.
