Senior Tim Pierce contributed eight of Cato-Meridian's 12 overtime points, including two 3s, to secure his team's 84-81 victory over state-ranked Onondaga (16-3) on Wednesday. The Tigers held a 34-30 halftime lead but faltered as the Blue Devils rolled to 42 points in the second half. Onondaga scored late to send the game into overtime.
Pierce led in scoring with a season-high 31 points. The Blue Devils also played well defensively, holding Latavius Murray and Josiah Jones to 22 points each. Nate Modafferi pulled in a double-double with 17 points and 15 rebounds, while senior forward Paul Meccariello also poured in 17 points.
The bench also came through big in the win with Cody Humberstone nailing two 3s for six points.
