It started as an idea in
high school that never materialized.
“I wanted to do a garage sale where parents could bring stuff in and we could fundraiser money for graduation,” said Micheal Szczetanski, student trustee of Cayuga Community College's Student Government Organization. “I was never really that involved in high school, so I brought the idea to college.”
The indoor garage sale, to be held in Spartan Hall, will host more than 30 vendors expected to bring in “anything and everything” for the community to browse through.
Student clubs and college affiliates will set up shop for the flea market, which will be free and open to the public Sunday.
The direct funds are intended to benefit a student trip, of mainly SGO and Student Activities Board members, to Washington, D.C., this April.
“This is our second year, and last year we had about 26 vendors, and saw between 400 and 500 people,” Szczetanski said. “Someone's junk may be another man's treasure.” he added, trying to explain the plethora of items that will be sold during the sale.
