I would like to thank the lady who stopped to help with an injured bird by Burger King on Sunday, Feb. 4.
My husband and three young children witnessed a horrible sight.
While waiting for me outside the Hallmark Store they watched as a vehicle driven by a young driver aimed his vehicle right toward a flock of unknowing birds.
He purposely drove his vehicle into the flock, killing two and injuring one.
This was definitely an act of cruelty.
Granted, these birds can be a nuisance, however, they don't deserve to be intentionally injured or killed.
What is this world coming to when our young drivers get behind a wheel of a car and intentionally hurt a living thing?
He could have driven around them instead of bulldozing through them.
What is this teaching our young ones?
My children, all under age 9, were devastated to see that a person would do that to another living thing.
Then that person didn't even stop to help, they just drove off.
There was a young woman who did stop as did I to check on the injured bird. She called a Bird Rehab Center in the area.
I picked up the terrified bird and tried to calm it down.
The other woman was going to transport it to a Bird Rehab in Martville.
I never did get her name, but I do appreciate her help.
That women set a great example for my children, that there are still some people in this world that are caring and will take the extra step to help out the creatures of this world.
I applaud this woman, whomever she was. Thank you from myself and my family.
