Marcus DeVoe is an accomplished photographer.
Having been featured in the New York Times, receiving awards since 1977 and holding numerous exhibits of his work, Auburn is lucky to call him its own.
His latest one-man exhibit will open Saturday with a reception, at the Cayuga Museum, Genesee Street, Auburn.
Museum curator Carrie Barrett said the show consists mostly of pictures from the Finger Lakes region's natural landscapes.
“His work has a dreamlike quality to it,” Barrett said, comparing his silver processed photography to that of Ansel Adams. “It's absolutely beautiful.”
According to a DeVoe's resume, he is a retired commercial photographer, but continues to work privately in the area of traditional fine-art black and white photography.
Throughout the years he has worked in New York City in television and print media, before moving his work to Auburn.
Approximately 46 images will be on display at the museum, Barrett said of his first show in the venue. A catalog of DeVoe's work will also be available at the exhibit
“We are very excited for this,” she said. “He draws a lot of inspiration from this area.”
