Friends plan benefit for Granger
A benefit for Billy Joe Granger to assist with health and living expenses will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, at the Ukrainian National Club, 125 Washington St., Auburn.
Granger, a Union Springs resident, has been diagnosed with stage IV Melanoma Carcinoma cancer. The cancer has now spread through his stomach, chest, lung and kidneys. He has no insurance or coverage at this time.
A $10 donation includes raffles, door prizes, auction, pasta dinner and music.

Snowmobile trail map available
The 2006-2007 Central NY Snowmobile Trail Map is now available at the Cayuga County Office of Tourism, 131 Genesee Street, Auburn. The map covers Cayuga, Onondaga, Cortland, and Oswego County trails. There is a $5 charge for the map.
The map features main corridor trails and secondary trails as well parking and intersections.
In addition, lodging along the trails and snowmobile businesses and dealers are highlighted.

Graves of legends listed in new book
“Big Chuck” D'Imperio, a longtime central New York broadcaster, has recently completed a new book, “Great Graves of Upstate New York: The Upstate New York Final Resting Places of 70 True American Legends.” D'Imperio will discuss his research and travels for the book at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10. at Creekside Books & Coffee, 35 Fennell St., Skaneateles.
D'Imperio traveled more than 5,000 miles around the region researching and writing about the famous people who are buried here.
The famous personalities include: James Fenimore Cooper, B.F. Goodrich, Mark Twain, Helen Hayes, Rod Serling, Ezra Cornell, Grandma Moses, John Brown, four U.S. presidents, the real “Maid of the Mist,” one Kentucky Derby winner (horse) and the most famous one-legged tap dancer in the world.
His talk will be followed by a book signing, and the author welcomes additional information about other famous people buried around the region.

The Absolute Dance Company will present a free studio performance, “A Tribute To Love,” at 7 p.m. Feb. 10, at Absolute Dance, Genesee Street, in downtown Auburn. This performance will feature a series of mixed genres of dance set to music of love.
This performance is free (donations accepted) and open to the public.
